An El Paso Independence School District officer shot and killed a man in his 50s on school campus.
On 8/22/2024, it was reported that the man shot and killed was retired 54-year-old FBI agent Julio Cordero whose son was a senior at the school.
FBI agent Cordero had a long and distinguished career, notably bringing about more than 40 convictions of prominent El Paso citizens involved in massive public corruption. He suffered PTSD and was known to have mental health crises as well and retired. Lengthy descriptions of his life and struggles are enclosed in the links below.
