On August 21, 2024, San Diego Police initiated a pursuit of a vehicle following a hit-and-run incident near Balboa Park. The vehicle, a gray Toyota, was being pursued when it failed to navigate a sharp turn on State Route 94. The driver lost control and crashed. Despite efforts to transport the individual, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
