On May 1, 2025, Orlando police officers responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a man waving a gun near a 7-Eleven and other nearby businesses along Conroy Road. The man, identified as 25-year-old Orlin Manuel Bueso Calderon, was seen entering a dry cleaners and walking through a strip mall parking lot while holding what appeared to be a handgun.Officers located Calderon in the parking lot of the Bella Vita Apartments at 4620 Cason Cove Drive. Five officers opened fire, fatally striking him. The weapon recovered at the scene was determined to be a simulated firearm resembling a Glock handgun, possibly a BB or pellet gun. Calderon had a prior criminal history, including charges of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer with a deadly weapon and possession of cocaine. No officers were injured during the incident. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is conducting an investigation into the shooting.

The warrants were related to sexual assault charges. Coyle did not comply with orders to exit the home, prompting officers to enter the residence. Inside, Coyle reportedly pointed a firearm at officers, leading one officer to discharge his service weapon, striking Coyle. Paramedics rendered emergency medical treatment, but Coyle was pronounced dead at the scene. Johnson fled in a rented U-Haul truck, leading law enforcement on a pursuit into Kansas City. Around 3:27 a.m. on April 30, 2025, deputies responded to a 911 call about a man damaging property and threatening the caller inside a residence on Palm Circle in Palm Shores. The caller locked herself in a bathroom and said the man was out of control. A deputy arrived and helped the woman escape the home. As the deputy approached the front door to make contact, the man emerged holding a knife and advanced toward him. The deputy opened fire and struck the man. On April 29, 2025, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Newark Police officers located an overdue U-Haul van parked in a shopping center on the 200 block of East Main Street. The vehicle had been reported as an unauthorized use vehicle after it was not returned on its due date of March 18.
When officers approached the van, the driver, identified as 22-year-old Gordon Turner of New Castle, Delaware, fled the scene, driving over a curb and striking a marked police vehicle. Officers did not pursue the vehicle.Approximately five minutes later, the U-Haul was traveling westbound on East Main Street at a high rate of speed when it struck two pedestrians who were standing next to a parked car. The van then collided with several parked vehicles before coming to a stop.
One of the pedestrians, a 24-year-old University of Delaware graduate student, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other pedestrian, also a 24-year-old University of Delaware graduate student, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition.Three additional individuals were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and three others sustained minor injuries but declined medical treatment.

Upon arrival, officers found the main gate closed and locked. Inside the facility, they observed a pickup truck with its windows shattered. Officers encountered 31-year-old Alfred Lopez-Minor, a former employee of the Garden Bistro, an independently operated restaurant within the park. Lopez-Minor fired multiple shots in the direction of the officers. As Lopez-Minor exited the east side of the building, he allegedly then brought his hands together in a manner perceived as an imminent threat, prompting officers to fire multiple shots. Despite life-saving efforts, Lopez-Minor died at the scene. On April 28, 2025, around 12:36 a.m., Casper Police officers responded to a report of an armed burglary at 1623 S. McKinley Street. Upon arrival, they encountered 37-year-old Jody Renee Cobia, the homeowner who allegedly had a gun. During the encounter, police shot and killed Cobia under undisclosed circumstances in her own home. It remains undisclosed who called police and why they arrived and killed the homeowner in her own home. Court records indicate that Cobia was a legal resident of the home, having sole possession as part of a protection order granted in August. The Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation is conducting an independent investigation, and the involved officers have been placed on administrative leave per department policy.

The identity of the individual who called the police has not been disclosed in the available reports. The circumstances leading to the shooting, including the nature of the reported burglary and the actions of both the officers and Cobia, are under investigation.

Incidentally, her mother, Susan L. Talafous was a fed gov investigator, a prison official, who had accused Casper PD of murdering her parents over some documents. The mother died from unknown causes. David Knezevich, 37, was found dead in his cell at the Federal Detention Center in Miami on April 28, 2025. He was awaiting trial on federal charges related to the kidnapping and murder of his estranged wife, Ana Maria Henao Knezevich, who vanished in Madrid, Spain, on February 2, 2024. Surveillance footage from her apartment building showed a man resembling Knezevich disabling cameras and leaving with a suitcase. Authorities believe Ana was murdered, though her body has never been found. Knezevich was charged with kidnapping resulting in death, foreign domestic violence resulting in death, and foreign murder of a U.S. national. He had pleaded not guilty and was engaged in a contentious divorce involving millions in disputed assets. His death was confirmed to be suicide by his attorney. The FBI and U.S. Marshals Service have opened an investigation into his death.

At approximately 12:09 a.m. on April 27, 2025, a Virginia State Police trooper observed a motorcycle traveling over 100 mph on eastbound I-66 near Nutley Street in Fairfax County. The trooper initiated a traffic stop, but the motorcyclist drove away. Police escalated a chase to unknown speeds and stated that the trooper called off the chase “due to safety reasons,” not otherwise specified. Shortly thereafter, the fleeing motorcycle crashed into rear passenger side of an SUV, caught on fire which the trooper and then responding firefighters extinguished. Deputies escalated a westbound chase on M-115. Approximately 1.5 miles into the pursuit, at unknown speed, the SUV crossed the centerline and collided head-on with an eastbound van carrying six Charlevoix High School varsity golf team members and their coach. The fleeing driver was killed. All occupants of the van were injured and transported to Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, with the coach airlifted via Aero-Med helicopter.

On April 27, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m., a Justin Police Department officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver, identified as 54-year-old Eric Michael Watkins, failed to stop and continued driving to a residence in the 100 block of Daisey Lane. Upon arrival at the residence, Watkins exited the vehicle and fled into the backyard while armed with a firearm. When he emerged from the backyard, officers issued multiple commands for him to drop the weapon. Watkins allegedly raised the firearm in a threatening manner toward the officers, prompting one officer to discharge their service weapon, striking Watkins. Officers rendered aid at the scene, and Watkins was transported to Medical City Denton Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.The Texas Rangers are conducting an independent investigation into the incident, as is standard protocol for officer-involved shootings in Texas.

On April 26, 2025, at approximately 10:17 p.m., a police pursuit in Houston, Texas, began a chase when Precinct 7 Constable deputies attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding at over 90 miles per hour without headlights. After the vehicle exited the freeway and continued to drive, Precinct 3 Constable deputies resumed the pursuit. The man being chased ran a red light and sped at over 90 miles per hour without headlights until he lost control of the vehicle, crashing.

The occupants exited the vehicle on foot, and while a deputy turned around to pursue, one manwas struck by the pursuing patrol vehicle. The patrol vehicle struck the man, dragging him approximately 10 feet before becoming dislodged. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A 20-year-old man was shot and killed by a Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputy on April 26, 2025, after deputies responded to a domestic violence incident on Emerald Dunes Drive. On April 26, 2025, Columbia County deputies attempted to serve a temporary protective order to James Blake Montgomery, 38, during a traffic stop on I-20 near Exit 194. Initially cooperative, Montgomery suddenly opened fire with a converted fully automatic 9mm AR pistol, fatally shooting Deputy Brandon Sikes and critically injuring Deputy Gavin White. Deputies Andrew Brown and Jared Mason returned fire. Montgomery attempted to flee in his RV but crashed into a median barrier. He was later found dead inside the RV. On April 26, 2025, at approximately 7:20 a.m., detention officers conducting a routine welfare check found 35-year-old Rachel Nalley unresponsive in her cell at the Oklahoma County Detention Center. Medical staff and Oklahoma City Fire Department personnel initiated life-saving measures, but she was pronounced dead at 7:27 a.m. Nalley had been in custody since April 21, 2025, on charges including failure to appear, engaging in prostitution, and possession of a controlled substance. The Oklahoma County Detention Center is investigating, and the State Medical Examiner's Office will determine the official cause of death. Her death is the sixth reported in the jail so far in 2025.
