On 08/18/2024, Aldo Villa-Ceballos, 30, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after Denver police pursued him from the scene of a fatal shooting in southwest Denver. The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner subsequently confirmed Villa-Ceballos' identity and ruled his death a suicide.

Shortly before 9:00 a.m., Denver police responded to the area of West Arkansas Avenue and South Knox Court after receiving a report of a shooting. Officers found 26-year-old Efrain Enrique Palacio Delgado suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police alleged that Villa-Ceballos and Palacio Delgado knew each other and had been involved in a verbal confrontation that escalated into the shooting. Witnesses described a white work-type van leaving the scene.

Officers located a van matching that description traveling at high speed and began pursuing it specifically because police believed its driver was connected to the fatal shooting on West Arkansas Avenue.

During the pursuit, Villa-Ceballos crashed into another vehicle. Police continued pursuing the van until Villa-Ceballos crashed again near South University Boulevard and Cherry Hills Farm Drive.
