On August 18, 2024, a high-speed pursuit involving a 2012 Acura driven by Lindell Albert Powell led to a crash in Spring Lake, North Carolina. Powell, 25, collided with a Honda Accord, killing the passenger in the Honda. The driver of the Honda was critically injured. Powell was hospitalized in critical condition after the crash. The pursuit was initiated by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol and ended in a fatal crash at the intersection of North Bragg Boulevard and McKenzie Road.
