REASON FOR CHASE:
Passenger killed during a police pursuit of an SUV driven by a 15-year-old girl. Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported that the SUV was speeding westbound on Oklahoma State Highway 152 when officers with the Cordell and Sayre police departments pursued it.

NARRATIVE:
On 12/04/2022, an unidentified 13-year-old girl was killed when the SUV in which she was a passenger crashed during a police pursuit on Oklahoma State Highway 152 in Sayre, Beckham County. The vehicle was being driven by a 15-year-old girl.

At approximately 3:00 a.m., the SUV was traveling westbound on OK-152. According to reporting based on the Oklahoma Highway Patrol investigation, the 15-year-old driver was speeding and officers from the Cordell Police Department and Sayre Police Department pursued the vehicle.

During the pursuit, the 15-year-old driver lost control of the SUV. The vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a building.

The 13-year-old passenger was trapped inside the wreckage. Sayre Fire Department personnel worked for approximately 30 minutes to free her from the vehicle. She suffered fatal head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 15-year-old driver survived and was transported to Great Plains Regional Medical Center in Elk City. Oklahoma Highway Patrol investigated the fatal crash.
