On August 8, 2024, police officers from the Irvine Police Department responded to a report of a stabbing at the intersection of Green Tree Lane and Coral Tree Lane in Irvine. Upon arrival, officers witnessed Paul Parvea Montazer stabbing his mother in front of the house. After ordering Montazer to stop, officers escalated the situation and shot him when he failed to comply. Both Montazer and his mother died as a result of the incident. Police confirmed that Montazer had been involved in a family homicide.
