OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
An off-duty Beverly Hills officer involved himself in a fight and shot and killed a person. Police claim that two men were fighting, one with a pipe, another holding a handgun. There is an encampment nearby and the men may have been unhoused. There are no eyewitnesses found at the moment and it is unknown whether the men were a realistic danger to each other or the officer as officers are to be observers when off-duty and only to intervene when lives are in danger per LAPD spokesman Brian Wendling. Police continue to shield the officer’s name.
