Port Jervis PD attempted to traffic stop a motorcycle driven by Wade C. Conklin, Jr. that was allegedly speeding. The motorcycle did not stop. Police accelerated a chase that ended when the motorcycle crashed into an SUV and light post and died. He was apparently hunted at high-speed for a traffic violation. Friends report that he was deaf and that he had been out on an errand to help a friend when police escalated the fatal pursuit. Police claim that they “called off the pursuit” immediately prior to impact, a claim which is so common by police that our database lists such cases under "called off the chase" keywords.
