The incident occurred early on the morning of August 6, 2024, when Vallejo police initiated a traffic stop near Sonoma Boulevard and Lemon Street. The driver of the gray Mercedes fled from the stop, prompting a high-speed chase. The pursuit, which lasted for approximately two miles, reached speeds of 75 mph. The chase ended at the intersection of Sonoma Boulevard and Tennessee Street when the fleeing vehicle collided with a blue Subaru Outback. The collision resulted in a fatality of a passenger in the Mercedes and caused the Subaru to catch fire. Five other individuals were transported to hospitals with injuries. Police discovered a firearm in the vehicle, and the Solano County Major Crimes Task Force has taken over the investigation.
