OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
A Spartanburg County sheriff’s deputy was serving civil papers for a foreclosure at a home on Belmarc Drive on May 31 when backup officers with the Spartanburg Police Department arrived and came outside the home and began shooting at the officers. He moved back inside the home where he continued shooting at them, and SWATfired shots back. After a “brief pause,” the officers heard a shot from within the home and saw the man on the floor suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. Police said they knew who had inflicted the gunshot wound but declined to share the information.No officers were charged.
