On 09/11/2024, Polk County deputies were dispatched to a domestic disturbance at a home on Rockridge Road and US-98 in Lakeland, where Thomas England, 40, allegedly fired shots at a neighbor’s residence. Deputies arrived and established a perimeter around the home, identifying England as the primary individual involved.

The SWAT team was deployed. SWAT utilized CS gas to force him out. Police breached the residence, finding England inside with a shotgun nearby. He was pronounced dead at the scene from a suspected drug overdose, though no self-inflicted gunshot wounds were found.
