Lamine Mahmoudi, 34, was fatally shot by Columbus police on September 10, 2024, at 1:30 AM on North High Street, near the University District police substation. Officers had responded to multiple calls earlier that evening regarding threats involving knives. When Mahmoudi was confronted near the substation with two knives, he did not comply with commands to drop the weapons. Police attempted to subdue him with a stun gun before resorting to gunfire. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is handling the ongoing review.
