On 08/31/2025, Wilkes-Barre police reported a hospital case involving a physical and sexual assault victim. As part of the investigation, officers attempted to execute a search warrant at a home on Barney and Richard Street. When they tried to enter, a gunman opened fire on officers. No officers were struck. Police surrounded the home, and a standoff followed. The Pennsylvania State Police Special Emergency Response Team was called to assist. About an hour later, police entered and found the gunman dead.

On 08/30/2025, at approximately 8:20 p.m., Independence police responded to a hit-and-run near the 15400 block of East 42nd Terrace. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to stop, and police escalated a pursuit onto I-70. Near the Phelps Road exit, the driver abandoned the vehicle and attempted to cross the westbound lanes on foot. He was struck by a motorist and pronounced dead at the scene.

On 08/30/2025, at approximately 2:43 a.m., the Cascade County Sheriff’s Office and Great Falls Police Department responded to reports of an armed home invasion at 60 Gibson Flats Road in Great Falls. The residents had fled the home, but Justin Cody Paul remained inside. Commands to surrender were given but not followed. Multiple gunshots were heard from within the residence. When law enforcement entered, the man was found dead inside. The Montana Department of Justice’s Division of Criminal Investigation and the Lewis and Clark County Sheriff’s Office are conducting an independent investigation.

The driver refused to stop, and police escalated a pursuit. The trooper used a PIT maneuver (Tactical Vehicle Intervention) to end the chase. The Tahoe veered off the road, overturned in a ditch, and the driver was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. The trooper was placed on paid leave while the incident is under investigation.

Police located their car parked in a fire lane near the exit of a nearby Walmart. A K9 unit was deployed to block the vehicle. Reed caused minor damage to a K9 cruiser while driving away. An off‑duty officer allegedly saw Reed’s vehicle traveling westbound on the wrong side of White Road at dangerous speeds. Due to the continuation of reportedly dangerous driving, a sergeant authorized a pursuit over the radio. Subsequently, another officer intercepted northbound near I-71 and began a pursuit. Reed exited onto Greenlawn Avenue near Greenlawn Cemetery where the aggressive high-speed pursuit resulted in a catastrophic collision, killing both the driver and passenger.

On 08/30/2025, at approximately 12:44 a.m., Andre Myers, 22, crashed a 2005 Honda Accord on Clements Ferry Road near Cainhoy Village Road in Berkeley County while attempting to evade law enforcement. The vehicle left the roadway, struck a power pole and a tree, and Myers was transported to East Cooper Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation.

On 08/29/2025, Marinette police attempted to stop a vehicle linked to a suspicious-death investigation. The driver refused to stop, and police escalated a high-speed chase along US 41 until the vehicle crashed near Schacht Road in Peshtigo. The man exited armed with a sharp-edged weapon. A Marinette County deputy deployed a Taser, which failed, and two Marinette police officers opened fire. The man was transported to a hospital and pronounced dead.
