OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
Auburn PD received a call about a man forcing his way into an apartment. Police arrived and shot and killed him, stating he had been armed. Strangely, the report specifically includes language that the officer’s actions which resulted in Young’s death were not motivated by “hate bias.” Source of this info is theplainsman.com link below.
The police story is very vague so far, not distinguishing whether this was an armed hostile residential burglary type entry or whether it perhaps was what police refer to as “disturbance call” and a familiar person is not wanted but not violent or causing harm and police are requested to escort them out. There have been no press conferences or updates in the first days after the killing. Police state that he "had a gun.” It is not known whether he produced it or threatened anyone or whether it was in his pocket. ALEA is investigating the killing.
