On Sunday, May 28, O'Fallon and Fairview Heights PDs tried to stop a car that was wanted for a prior offense. The traffic stop was at the intersection of U.S. Highway 50 and Old Collinsville Road. The person vacated the car and fled from police with a loaded gun. They fired at police as they fled, and officers shot back.The man made it another 100 yards before he was discovered to have committed suicide under police duress.No officers were charged.
