Des Plaines officers were dispatched to 1477 Thacker Street for reports of 55-year-old Scott J. MacDonald breaking things and "possibly having a psychotic breakdown" in his apartment.
Police arrived at his home and got into a confrontation with him that ended with him allegedly walking toward them with an ax. An officer shot and killed him.
