Raymond Mattia, a member of the Washoe Tribe's Carson City colony, had called CBP himself to report undocumented migrants congregating on his reservation land. CBP arrived and shot and killed homeowner Mattia instantly when they saw a shiny object in his hand. Mattia was not a migrant. he was a native American on his own land. The shiny object in his hand had been a cell phone. Mattia was the unarmed homeowner who had called them for help. The Department of Justice cleared the federal CBP agents who killed him so hastily without prior investigation.
