OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 06/03/2022, Memphis police attempted to stop a vehicle near Interstate 40 and Whitten Road after identifying Corey Menton Brewer as a person wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a woman earlier that day at an Amazon facility in Horn Lake, Mississippi. Police stopped the vehicle and ordered Brewer to exit. According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Brewer fired shots at officers during the stop. Officers opened fire and killed him. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation conducted the investigation. In October 2023, the Shelby County District Attorney's Office publicly released redacted body camera videos from the shooting. Public reporting did not indicate any criminal charges against the officers involved.
