On 06/04/2022, Virginia State Police tactical officers served a search warrant at a home on Newington Drive in Amherst after Lynchburg Police Department reported receiving repeated Facebook Messenger threats tied to Joseph R. Lombard, 35, including threats against law enforcement and judiciary employees. As tactical officers attempted to enter, a gunshot sounded from inside the residence, officers took cover, and teams attempted to communicate with him.
