On 07/30/2022, troopers with the Wyoming Highway Patrol and deputies from the Crook County Sheriff's Office encountered Daniel Nathan Bruce walking along Interstate 90 approximately one mile east of mile marker 184. Authorities stated they wanted to speak with Bruce regarding an earlier incident.
According to law enforcement, Bruce fired a handgun during the encounter, and officers returned fire, striking him. Bruce died at the scene.
