OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
Fairfax County deputies investigated a UHaul believed to be stolen and found the UHaul and the driver, got into an altercation and Fairfax County deputies shot and killed him in a McDonald’s parking lot. The man had allegedly assaulted another officer and stolen his service weapon while inside a police cruiser near the intersection of Route 1 and N. Kings Highway in the Huntington area, around 4 p.m. on 05/12/2023. Bystander video showed the cruiser backing out of a gas station pump and crashing at McDonald’s. At least 18 gunshots were heard. Then another officer approached the crashed cruiser, pulled the man who was on top of the first officer out of the police car. The unnamed man was shot and killed.
