On 07/25/2022, Laurens County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a residence on Shore Loop Drive in Waterloo under circumstances that have never been publicly explained. The encounter occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. According to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), deputies encountered Daniel Robert Strange, who was armed with a handgun. During the encounter, deputies shot Strange.
