OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On Friday, May 12, Sevierville PD and Sevier County deputies were at a house on Holly Drive in New Center to follow up on an incident involving a felony evading charge. When police approached the home, they got into a shootout with a man inside under unclear circumstances. The K-9 was taken to an area veterinary hospital for surgery after being shot. It is unknown who shot the dog. Police found 63-year-old David Wright dead in the home after the shootout. Police were not to be charged per DA James B. Dunn.
