Woodburn PD and SWAT were attempting to arrest Andrew Erling Kjostad, a 34-year-old personfor multiple shootings throughout Marion County the previous night.The Salem Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team was deployed due to the substantial risk Kjostad potentially posed to both police officers and the public. Once located, Kjostad ran from officers and was shot and killed by Salem Police SWAT officer Adam Waite during the attempt to apprehend him.
