OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
Fontana PD received a call about a man swinging a pipe and causing a disturbance. Police arrived and according to eyewitnesses, they beat and finally shot and killed the unnamed man. Still photos from bodycams show that the officers fired from a significant distance. It is unexplained why police felt a pipe would represent a mortal danger to police to justify the fatal shooting. Bystander video is linked below. The bystander who filmed the footage told media that she felt the event to represent excessive force.
