On October 4, 2024, Sacramento Police responded to a domestic disturbance on Aquino Drive where a man, later identified as William Keith Hayward, allegedly pointed a firearm at a woman. Police escalated the situation, setting up a standoff that lasted several hours. During the standoff, Hayward was found dead from a gunshot wound, which authorities determined to be a suicide under police duress.
