OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 02/26/2023, Dupo Police officers attempted to serve arrest warrants on 40-year-old Reginald Allen at his home in the 700 block of McBride Avenue. Officers made contact at the residence, and gunfire was exchanged during the encounter. One officer was critically injured.
Allen retreated into the home and a standoff followed. Law enforcement established a perimeter and deployed tactical units. After officers entered the residence, they located Allen inside the garage deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The Illinois State Police led the investigation into the shooting involving the injured officer and Allen’s death. Authorities confirmed Allen died by suicide. The names of the officers involved were not publicly released in initial reporting.
