OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On October 21, 2024, Bainbridge Public Safety officers attempted to stop a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Keuntae ZyQuil Stewart on Georgia State Route 300. Stewart did not stop. Officers escalated the situation into a high-speed pursuit. During the chase, officers executed a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver, causing Stewart's vehicle to lose control and crash. Stewart was ejected from the vehicle and died from his injuries as a result. Police did not comment why the aggressive pursuit was initiated. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the incident.
