On June 26, 2024, law enforcement officers from the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), U.S. Marshals Service, and Butler County Sheriff's Department were involved in a fatal shooting at the Camelot RV Park along Highway 67, near Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

The incident occurred as officers attempted to serve a warrant on 61-year-old Paul Wilhite of Brinkley, Arkansas. During the encounter, Wilhite was shot by officers. He was transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital, where he was pronounced dead later that day.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol's Division of Drug and Crime Control is leading the investigation into the shooting, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service and the Butler County Coroner’s Office. An autopsy was scheduled for June 28, 2024.
