On October 23, 2024, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Border Patrol pursuit occurred on State Route 905 near Otay Mesa, California, reportedly involving suspected human smuggling. The vehicle, a four-door Infiniti G35, lost control during the chase and crashed into a stationary Caltrans truck around 2:20 PM. The crash resulted in the deaths of two passengers, including an unidentified Latino woman. Another individual was injured in the crash. The identities of the deceased and the officers involved in the pursuit have not been released.
