On October 23, 2024, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Border Patrol pursuit on State Route 905 near Otay Mesa, California, ended in a fatal crash. The vehicle, a four-door Infiniti G35, lost control and collided with a stationary Caltrans truck around 2:20 PM. The crash killed two passengers, including an unidentified Latino woman, and injured another person. The pursuit reportedly involved suspected human smuggling. The names of the individuals and the officers involved have not been disclosed
