On Apr. 28, 2022, on 110th Avenue outside of Bowlus, Minnesota, the West Central Drug Task Force had been searching for Bangs as part of a narcotics investigation. A state trooper spotted Bangs in Mille Lacs. Police stopped the vehicle and found 3 other men inside. Troopers escalated an altercation and Bangs drove away from the confrontation. Police allege that meth was thrown from the window. Police searched for Bangs and found him hours later. Troopers escalated a shootout with occupants of the vehicle. Bangs died in the cross-fire. Police claim he was holding a gun when killed.
