OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On October 26, 2024, Fresno Police responded to a ShotSpotter alert for gunfire in the area of S 8th Street and E Verrue Avenue. Approximately an hour after officers arrived, Andy Morales, identified as the presumed shooter, returned to the location. Police reported that Morales fired a shot at an officer, injuring them. In response, the officer shot Morales, who later died from his injuries. The officer who was injured was transported to the hospital, but is expected to recover.

The investigation into the shooting is being handled by the Fresno Police Department, in collaboration with the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office.
