On November 7, 2024, police responded to reports of gunfire at a home on Foard Road in Holliday, Texas, where Corey Robert Drake allegedly shot and killed his grandparents. When officers arrived, Drake opened fire on them, prompting a response. After a standoff, he locked himself in a barn. The situation escalated, and officers used drones, armored vehicles, and gas to attempt to subdue him. At 10:15 p.m., Drake was fatally shot after raising a rifle toward officers. The Texas Rangers are investigating the incident.
