Joseph Horan V, a 32-year-old white male, was killed on October 15, 2024, in Walterboro, South Carolina. Colleton County deputies and Walterboro police responded to reports of a man slashing car tires near a Ruby Tuesday restaurant at 1480 Sniders Highway. Upon arrival, Horan reportedly brandished a knife and was shot by law enforcement after allegedly advancing toward an officer. He had a history of PTSD and traumatic brain injury. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is investigating the incident.
