On 07/27/2024, Milwaukee Police Department officers attempted to stop a stolen Hyundai occupied by two juveniles in Milwaukee's south side. According to investigators, the driver accelerated away and police pursued through city streets.
The fleeing vehicle entered the Walker's Point neighborhood at a high rate of speed and collided with a motorcycle being ridden by 31-year-old Marc Jones near South 1st Street and West Walker Street. Jones was thrown from the motorcycle and died from his injuries. The occupants of the fleeing vehicle abandoned the Hyundai and ran from the scene before being apprehended.
Investigators later alleged that the 14-year-old driver had committed a series of violent offenses before the pursuit, including an armed robbery and vehicle theft. Prosecutors charged the juvenile with 24 felony counts, including homicide by use of a dangerous weapon and numerous other offenses. In 2025, the case was transferred to adult court. As of the latest publicly available information, the criminal case remains pending.
