On November 22, 2024, Arkansas State Police Troopers and Malvern Police Department officers were involved in a shooting with Eddie Williams, 42, from Malvern. Williams, armed with an AR-style rifle, opened fire on law enforcement officers after they attempted to stop him. Police returned fire, striking Williams, who was later pronounced dead. Williams was wanted for a previous shooting incident. The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the incident, and the case file will be submitted to the prosecuting attorney.
