On November 25, 2024, Mannford Police initiated an aggressive vehicle chase against Crystal Marie Price over a paper license plate. Oklahoma Highway Patrol joined the pursuit. The chase lasted approximately 36 minutes through rural Creek County. Troopers falsely claimed Price had swerved toward them, but body camera footage shows she did not veer or attempt to strike any officer. Trooper Robert Darnell then used a Tactical Vehicle Intervention maneuver to deliberately ram her car, forcing it off the road and into a tree. Crystal Price was killed instantly. OHP policy discourages high-speed chases and tactical maneuvers for nonviolent misdemeanors like paper tag violations. Despite clear contradictions between troopers' reports and video evidence, no disciplinary action has been reported.
