On 11/21/2024, at approximately 9:18 p.m., a 26-year-old male pedestrian was struck by a Miller County Sheriff's Office SUV on Highway 17, north of Tuscumbia. The deputy, driving a 2024 Ford Explorer, struck the man while passing oncoming traffic. The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to University Hospital in Columbia, where he died days later.
