On 12/05/2024, at approximately 2:00 a.m., a Georgia State Patrol (GSP) trooper attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation on Buena Vista Road near the I-185 interchange in Columbus, Georgia. The 18-year-old male driver did not yield. Police escalated a pursuit.

The chase continued through several city streets, reaching high speeds as they pursued the vehicle. The driver lost control, and the vehicle crashed. The 18-year-old male was pronounced dead at the scene.
