On 12/06/2024, at approximately 12:32 p.m., a Lauderhill Police Department officer responded to a call at the Majestic Gardens Apartment Complex in the 4000 block of Northwest 16th Street in Lauderhill. Upon arrival, the officer encountered 28-year-old Monique Scott, who had a large knife. Scott continued to advance. The officer discharged his firearm, striking Scott.

Scott was transported to Broward Health Medical Center, where she was pronounced deceased. The officer has been placed on administrative leave, per department policy.
