On 12/07/2024, at approximately 4:30 a.m., Shelby Police Department officers responded to a domestic disturbance at the Oak Tree Lodge on East Dixon Boulevard in Shelby. Upon arrival, officers encountered a man with knives. Officers issued commands to drop the knives. Police shot and killed him when he did not cooperate.

The man was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The officer involved has been placed on administrative leave.
