On December 7, 2024, Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a call at a residence on the 10000 block of Courtney Palm Boulevard in Tampa, Florida. The incident began as a welfare check after a family member reported hearing a gunshot from the bathroom.

Upon arrival, deputies found the bathroom door locked and forced entry. Inside, they discovered 67-year-old Anthony Dadante sitting in a bathtub, with his chest covered in blood and holding a firearm. He allegedly pointed the firearm at one of the deputies. Both officers opened fire, fatally striking him.

Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister commented on the incident, stating the deputies acted in response to a life-threatening situation.
