On December 11, 2024, Fort Lauderdale Police Department officers responded to a call regarding a 21-year-old man experiencing a mental health crisis at a residence in the 300 block of Southwest 25th Avenue. Upon arrival, officers encountered the manexiting the home with a gun. Officers opened fire. The man was transported to Broward Health Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
