On 12/08/2024, DeSoto Police officers responded to a service call involving a reported disturbance at a residence on Greenbriar Drive. Upon arrival, officers encountered 26-year-old Arthur Lee Armstrong Jr., who allegedly "presented a threat." Officers opened fire, striking Armstrong Jr. in the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The DeSoto Police Department is conducting an internal investigation. Police have not clarified whether Armstrong Jr. was armed or provided details on the nature of the alleged threat that led to the use of lethal force.
