Jeremy Asbury, 31, was wanted for sexual assault and Charlotte PD and SWAT arrived to serve a warrant. New charges surfaced and a warrant for his arrest was issued. When police bore down on the residence, he died of suicide under police duress.Just before his death, he went on social media live and explained that his child was in the house, he hoped someone would pick him up safely as he was surrounded by SWAT and he thanked everyone for their support, adding that this may be the last time anyone saw him alive. He was killed shortly thereafter. He had been the son of city commissioner Jerry Asbury.
