OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 12/14/2024, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Broward Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a domestic aggravated assault call before Robert Drangel fled the scene. Deputies located him near Hollywood Boulevard and Interstate 95. Police escalated a pursuit that ended near the Tri-Rail station on Southwest 21st Street in Fort Lauderdale. Deputies hit him with a PIT maneuver. They then opened fire on him inside the car, killing him, stating an unknown perceived threat. Drangel was pronounced dead at the site of the shooting.
