On December 18, 2024, at approximately 11:30 a.m., officers from the Boca Raton Police Department responded to an incident near the intersection of 2nd Avenue and 2nd Street. During this encounter, Officer Michael Super opened fire, killing Morey Clemmons, who was believed to have been unarmed. The circumstances of the killing remain unclear.
Clemmons was known to be experiencing homelessness at the time of the incident. His family described him as a "beautiful man" who struggled with housing instability for years. Clemmons had a history of being targeted by police for petty theft. In a prior incident, he was accused of allegedly throwing a glass bottle at an officer and charged with aggravated assault.
