OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
At about 10:15 p.m., officers responded to a welfare check at a residence in the 500 block of West Carlyle. A woman and her daughter reported a physical disturbance with her boyfriend, Tyler Hodge. The woman believed Hodge had left, but officers observed his vehicle at the property and began checking the home and grounds. They found Hodge seated in a detached shed in the backyard with a rifle. Hodge ran toward the officers and fired multiple shots. Officers opened fire, killing Hodge. The injured officer was taken to the hospital.
